Autumn Equinox Celebration Saturday

For the AUTUMN EQUINOX GATHERING this year we have invited participants from the Quarry Lake Chhath Puja festival in Fremont.

Come learn about the celebration from the celebrants themselves.

Chhath is an ancient Hindu Vedic autumn festival.  The Chhath Puja is an agrarian Indian thanksgiving festival that honors the sun for healing, sustaining and supporting life on earth.  The celebration gives thanks for the sunlight needed to dry the ground so that the next crop of wheat can be planted. The sun as a life source is revered for promoting well-being, prosperity and progress.

The gathering will be facilitated by Rabbi David Cooper
