Treetop Raptor

Park visitor Erika St. John captured this bird roosting atop a tall tree on the west side of the park. She used the maximum zoom on her cell phone. She thought it might be an Osprey. Ospreys have been photographed in the park previously, so it’s not a surprise to see one. Seeing one perched in a tree is unusual. Is it looking for a possible nesting site? Erika says it flew south after a brief stay. This might also be a big Red-tailed Hawk. Cell phones are great for selfies but they leave a lot to be desired for wildlife photography.
