Where there’s fennel, there’s probably the Anise Swallowtail (Papilio zelicaon). It was fluttering and landing at the top of the little mound at the northwest corner of the park. At first we thought it was a Monarch, but on checking the internet after getting home, it’s clear that this is an Anise Swallowtail. It might be a bit early as the fennel hasn’t greened up yet, but maybe it’s finding other things to feed on.
