Third Cheer
A while ago — on October 29, to be exact — I posted two cheers for City staff for repairing the leaking fire hydrant (standpipe) in the southeast corner of the park. It took eleven weeks to get it done. But I asked, “How much extra effort would it have cost to repaint the standpipe and get rid of those graffiti that have been up there forever?” Well, a mere three months later to the day — a blink of an eye in City time — the job is done. The old graffiti is covered. The pole shines bright and fresh, ready for service in the dry season ahead. Third cheer!
