Sunset at Solstice
After an informative and funny talk about astronomy and related subjects by Rabbi David Cooper at the Cesar Chavez Memorial Solar Calendar, we walked south along the wooded ridge and I caught this snapshot of the sunset at the Summer Solstice. The actual instant of the solstice was still a couple of hours away, but this was close enough. This is the northerly limit of the sun’s annual oscillation at sunset as seen from the park.
