Summer Slacker

The south half of the park, much of it, has got itself a buzz cut, like a boy being sent to summer camp. The July 4 weekend is upon us. That’s my signal to slack off on the publishing schedule for the season. Since late September 2018, I’ve been posting items about Cesar Chavez Park at 5pm each and every day, as if this were a division of Berkeleyside. From now until fall, expect one or two postings a week — more or less if I feel like it. If you know of a hot item that needs coverage, call or text me at (510) 717-2414.

That doesn’t mean I’m fading on the park. Just the contrary. I’m working hard on the launch of a friends-of-the-park type organization, the Chavez Park Conservancy. You’ll be hearing more about it. I’m working also on a documentary about the Burrowing Owls in the park. Stay tuned.
