Sparrow Sings

I see the White-crowned Sparrows mostly on the ground, pecking at edibles invisible to my eyes. It was a treat to see this one on top of the beautiful ceanothus bush on the north side of the park, singing his little heart out. I say “his” because it’s the males that do the singing nearly all the time. The noisy droning of an airplane overhead didn’t interrupt his performance.
