It was a good time for birds Wednesday morning. This little one mostly hid in the evergreen bushes on the little island between the dirt path and the paved path on the west side, but came out for just a few seconds and allowed its picture to be taken. When it stretched its neck and opened its beak, it sang a beautiful melody, quite lovely to hear. I blame myself for not having the presence of mind to record it. I will go back and try to do better. I am grateful to Rusty Scalf of the Audubon Society for identifying the bird as a Song Sparrow. It doesn’t have the white stripes or the golden patch on its head that would make it very easy to identify.
