The East Bay Public Lands Committee of the San Francisco Bay Chapter of the Sierra Club at its July 10 meeting, chaired by Norman La Force, unanimously passed a resolution opposing the use of Cesar Chavez Park for cannabis promotion events. The July 10 Sierra Club committee meeting at the Ecology Center in Berkeley followed a Berkeley City Council committee meeting two days previously at which a proposal to fence the park and charge admission for cannabis promotion and consumption events was introduced and then withdrawn after public opposition.
