When it comes to cheap thrills in the park, watching a ground squirrel is hard to beat. They’re not so interesting when they’re just sunning themselves, but when they’re scavenging and feeding, they’re fun to watch. This hungry fellow or lady worked under a fennel bush, finding little tidbits here and there, which in all likelihood were fallen fennel seeds. In an earlier video, the squirrel — might have been the same one — managed to bend a fennel branch down within nipping range. Not this time, but the stormy winds of the week no doubt shook enough seeds loose to keep this fat little mammal nourished.
