Scaup Feeding

I’d seen the Scaup around the park swimming, diving, flying, and sleeping, but never saw them eat. Then I saw this flock working the waters just off the northwest corner. They’re omnivores that prefer crabs, clams, mussels, shrimp, and worms, but they’ll eat all kinds of aquatic plants, as they’re doing here. Judging by how eagerly they’re gobbling it up, and protecting it from their fellows, they’re very hungry.
