Red-tailed Hawk by Phil Rowntree
Park visitor Phil Rowntree snapped this Red-tailed Hawk at sunrise in the park on December 7 with his cellphone. He says the bird appeared to be asleep when he first approached it, so it let him get within range of his phone to take the first shot. Then the bird took off, and Phil got a dramatic shot of the bird flying toward the rising sun. The setting is high in the park near the Cesar Chavez Memorial Solar Calendar.
Thank you Phil for sharing these photos!
