Rain Sparrows

No sooner had the heavy rains ceased than this flock of White-Crowned Sparrows descended on the running track next to the paved trail. It looks like the rain flushed away the surface layer of soil and exposed items of interest to these intelligent birds. It was good to see that most of this flock consisted of juveniles. We’re likely to see a bumper crop of adult white-crowneds next year.
