I don’t have a problem if somebody wants to spend $100,000++ for a boat, a trailer, and a pickup for the chance to catch $30 worth of fish. But when I can’t find a parking space because each boat-trailer rig takes up three spaces, I have a problem, and so do a lot of other park visitors. There’s an ordinance against street parking travel trailers (homes for the houseless), but owners of boat trailers get a pass. This issue was raised at a Parks Commission meeting a few months ago, and all agreed that Something Ought To Be Done, but this toothless body did nothing. There’s actually a simple and painless solution. Pull the poles that block off the Virginia Street Extension and make the boaters park on that dirt road. Fine them $200 if they park trailers elsewhere.
