A new Surf Scoter appeared on Saturday, an adult male, with the unforgettable multicolor beak. He had two females with him, who kept watch while he snoozed. Whether these were two of the six or seven females seen in the area this past week, or whether they were new, is impossible to say. The little flock of six or seven sisters was not in view this morning.
These birds hung out off the northeast corner of the park, sometimes fairly close, sometimes far away.
