Great Blue at Low Tide

The very low tide of minus 0.6 brought out several egrets and herons, including this formidable Great Blue. While I watched, it had no luck nabbing anything edible, unlike the bird hunting on land I saw three weeks ago, grabbing a gopher. This one mostly stood still like a Pier 39 mime, waiting for something to pop up out of the mud, but nothing did. I believe this was a different individual than the gopher hunter; the feather pattern around the eye and the size and color of the beak seem distinct.
