Gates Opened
Parks staff reopened the four gates to the seasonal Burrowing Owl Sanctuary yesterday. The last Burrowing Owl in the park departed on March 17.
The southern entrance (photo above) leads directly to the Open Circle viewpoint, a popular seating area with a commanding view of the North Basin cove.
The northern entrance opens to a short paved path with vistas to the north and east.
The area gates are closed to the public during months when Burrowing Owls are present or expected, generally October through March.
