Flying Hare
Photographer Phil Rowntree captured this Black-tailed Jackrabbit with all four of its feet off the ground, as if it were flying.
A few moments earlier, Phil had spotted the hare in an uncharacteristic position: seated quietly on the paved path.
Moments later, Phil caught a picture of the jackrabbit dashing into the thick vegetation of the Nature Area on the park’s north side. Notice how lean this animal looks to be. Not an ounce of fat on it.
