Fire Drill
The Berkeley Fire Department conducted one of its periodic wildfire drills in the park on June 5. Abut two dozen firefighters including officers participated. The department usually runs these drills in Tilden Park, explained one participant, but there were some issues there this year that led them to Cesar Chavez instead. The drill involved testing equipment, communications, leadership and teamwork in a simulated wildfire situation. The training involved no actual fires.
