A Feast in the Mower’s Wake

Rock Pigeon and Ground Squirrel

When a Parks worker knocks down and churns up a stand of weeds with a riding mower, the wake behind turns into a feast for birds of several feathers, and for furry creatures as well.  It seems that the weed seeds are a bit easier to get at when they’re on the ground.  This morning, I saw House Finches, a White-Crowned Sparrow, Rock Pigeons, and of course Ground Squirrels all mixed up together, peacefully sharing nature’s bounty.
