An Egret Duet
The Great Egret and the Snowy Egret often keep company. Here’s such a pair on a quiet sunny morning on the North Basin. They’re both hunting, in a quiet way. The little Snowy does better, catching an unlucky little fish. With the big bird watching and not interfering, although it easily could, the smaller egret dips its catch in the water several times and then swallows it whole. Watch a short video on YouTube here.
