Busy Sparrow

This Golden-crowned Sparrow found many items of interest in the short grass next to the paved path on the north side of the park, directly below the fennel forest where the Red-winged Blackbirds are making their homes.

In their breeding season, these Sparrows develop black caps with bold yellow stripes down the middle. This individual is not in breeding mode, and wears a fuzzy rusty cap instead.
