Busy Morning

Some days when I visit the park, I don’t get anything worth posting as a blog item. Other days I get too much! This was one of the latter kind. Normally I like to feature one species per item. If I did that with today’s harvest, it would stretch into the middle of the month. This was a busy morning.

Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias)
Snowy Egret (Egretta thula)
Scaup, probably Greater Scaup (Aythya Marila)
Ruddy Ducks (Oxyura jamaicensis)
Bufflehead (Bucephala albeola)
Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos)

And that was just the birds on the water. Then there was:

White-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia leucophrys)
Golden-crowned Sparrow (Zonotrichia atricapilla)
House Finch (Haemorhous mexicanus)
Probably Cooper’s Hawk IAccipiter cooperii)

A great morning in the park. So much to see.
