The owl faced south. Its position was about seven yards from the near edge of a four foot wide paved trail that had narrow gravel trails running on either side of it. A major freeway and railroad tracks lay about three quarters of a mile to the east. There was a constant background noise from highway and train traffic. Shown are excerpts from a half-hour video that is also posted on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw82q4-rGL8), showing how the owl reacted to various events in the environment: train horns, planes, runners, people talking, drones, and an off-leash dog.
