Blackbird displaying
It’s easy to get an Egyptian-style picture of male Red-winged Blackbirds — one side, one eye only. The holy grail of blackbird photography is to get it head-on, showing both wings with their spectacular epaulets. I got lucky this afternoon. This guy let out a most heartfelt call and spread both wings wide as part of the effort. If I were a female blackbird I would have fallen for him immediately; he’s an impressive bird.
