Birds of Cesar Chavez Park

This table contains all the birds photographed and identified in Cesar Chavez Park and posted on this website to date; updates may be delayed. Only bird reports with photographs and/or videos are listed here. Note also that the eBird website shows an independent tally of more than 200 species in the park, but most of those reports do not include photos or videos. Currently this list and the eBird list are not synchronized.

Click on “Link” to see all posts on this website containing a reference to and photo(s) and/or video(s) of that bird. Click on “Photo” to see one selected photo of that bird. Click on “Video” to see one selected video containing that bird. Note: A bird may appear in more than one video. For example, there are more than 100 videos of Burrowing Owls. Click on “Burrowing Owl” and “Link” for a list of posts in which those videos (as well as still images) appear, or use the Videos page and select videos of Burrowing Owls using the Search feature at the top of that table.

Click the header row to sort the columns forward or backward. You can also search and filter the list.

This list includes birds photographed in the North Basin, which is the cove between the Cesar Chavez Park peninsula and the Berkeley mainland, and birds photographed in the waters north and west of the park. A small number of birds were photographed uniquely in the Berkeley Meadow (Sylvia McLaughlin Eastshore State Park) on the south border of the North Basin, as noted in the text accompanying the photo.

Great site and really excellent photos. I’m the Boston person who spoke to you when you were filming your owl project.

    Just two questions
    1. I don’t see California gull in your list. I’m pretty certain I saw it there.
    2. I see you listed the abbreviation for oak titmouse as BUSH. shouldn’t it be OATI?
