Hawk’s Breakfast

Photographer James Kusz, whose work has appeared here several times, caught this very unusual scene in the park early in the morning. A Red-tailed Hawk, usually shy and high in a tree, stood on the ground in the open and had its breakfast. James wasn’t sure what the bird was eating, but suspects it may have been a Ground Squirrel.

    I saw a bird that looked similar in a tree, with no interest in a ground squirrel directly below it. Hmmm…
    I wondered if the bird i saw was nesting…
