A More Conventional Great Blue

Great Blue Heron

At the same spot where I saw the huge dark Great Blue Heron in late May, I saw another of its kind this morning, but of a more conventional size and coloration.  He or she stood on a seaweed-covered rock near the nadir of a minus .3 low tide, just north of and below the Open Circle Viewpoint, that excellent bird observatory.  It stood there quietly, looking around without any obvious anxiety, not hunting, and after a while spread its wings and took off northward and around the bend to the left.
